MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — A Douglas County judge has ordered a Carson City couple to repay $9,000 stolen from their 75-year-old neighbor.

District Judge Tod Young on Tuesday suspended prison sentences of up to five years for 58-year-old Robert Tucker and 56-year-old Nancy Tucker provided they make restitution.

The Record-Courier reports the couple pleaded guilty in February.

A court-appointed guardian told Young that the Tuckers haven't made any payments to the victim. She said the woman also fears that the couple would harm her because of the prosecution.

The thefts came to light when a Nevada State Bank employee became concerned about large amounts of money being taken out of the woman's account.

A criminal complaint charged the Tuckers with stealing blank checks, forging the victim's signature, and cashing the checks.
