BEVERLY HIILLS, Calif. (AP) — Beverly Hills police are investigating who was responsible for a possibly false 911 call that had them responding to a report of an armed robbery at Tom Cruise's home.

Sgt. Renato Moreno says police received the call shortly before noon Thursday. Officers responded to the house, searched it and found no crime had been committed. There have been no arrests.

Police are investigating the incident as a false report of an emergency.

Cruise and his family were not home when the call was made.

Such calls have been dubbed "swatting" because they are intended to get multiple officers, including SWAT teams, sent to a home.

In December, a juvenile was arrested after police said he made calls that reported violence at the homes of Justin Bieber and Ashton Kutcher.
