LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dense fog along parts of the Southern California coast has impacted airport operations.
The Federal Aviation Administration says ground stops for arriving flights went into effect early Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport and San Diego's Lindbergh Field.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says some flights headed to both airports have been diverted to Ontario International about 40 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
The first tier ground stop means that aircraft within about an hour's flying time are being delayed at their departure airports.
The National Weather Service says a dense fog advisory is in effect through 9 a.m.
