RENO, Nev. (AP) — The FBI says the victim in a fatal Reno bank robbery was shot and killed after he told the alleged gunman to "get out of here" during the holdup.
Details of the incident emerged Thursday in an FBI affidavit that accompanied a criminal complaint charging 66-year-old Van McDuffie with bank robbery with a dangerous weapon causing death.
The victim's name has not yet been officially released.
McDuffie was arrested Wednesday, just minutes after the robbery at the Bank of America branch on South Virginia Street.
He was followed from the bank by an off-duty police officer who witnessed the shooting and subdued him at a nearby bus stop until officers arrived.
The affidavit says a gun and money were recovered.
