LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a driver with two children in the backseat was fatally shot by a fellow motorist during rush hour in Las Vegas.

Authorities say the shooting happened a little before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.

Police say the man was shot in the chest and lost control of his car before crashing into two other vehicles.

The man was taken to University Medical Center and pronounced dead.

The two children were not injured.

A motive is unclear, but police Lt. Mark Reddon says it may be a case of road rage.

Police Lt. Ray Steiber says officers are looking for a suspect who's described as a white man driving a dark, compact car that was possibly older.

@Paladin Back in the day it wasn't always just fists. Guns and other weapons were used. I once was told the story by a relative of a guy he saw run over a dog on a road. So when he got to the next light they stopped and he got out of his car only wanting to tell him what happened. As he started saying about the dog and the other guy seeing and hearing that grab his tire iron and exited his car and knocked most of his front teeth out with it. And this was back in the 60s.--- So we just hear more about these kinds of stories because of the internet but there always has been violence while driving AKA as road rage. Sadly there always will be.-- -- I will say people these days are more likely to kill than the past. I guess all the extra population growth has turned the U.S.A. in to a killing zone for those who are frustrated and just love to hurt or sadly kill anyone who they think is in their way.

If the driver had been driving in NORTH Vegas he'd have been safe-they don't allow guns there, not even CCW's,so only Cops and crooks, robbers, thieves, gang members, rapists and mass murderers carry guns. That has to be safer than this, right?

Yes the children will have PTSD in the worst way. No different than seeing the carnage of war. Actually worse. Soldiers go to war trained and prepared for the life they chose in the military. My only disagreement with "smlwoman" is that I wish disagreements were still settled with fists. Used to be you "wronged" someone and they would call you out, somebody would get a black eye or a bloody nose and everyone would walk away satisfied. NOT ANY MORE. Now at the smallest sign of conflict everyone clears leather and bullets start flying. The movie theatre in Florida is another perfectly horrible example. Another family traumatized for the rest of their life because zealot got excited about texting in the movie and decided to kill him. Where has our once great society gone?

Technically those children were injured in the worst way. What is wrong with this world today? No compassion, patience, value of life. What ever happened to ignoring stupid behavior? Why does everything have to be settled with weapons and fists? It just breaks my heart! Those poor kids are the biggest victims in this.
