LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 25-year-old former teacher who pleaded guilty to romancing a teenage student is seeking probation and a chance to have her felony sentence reduced to a misdemeanor if she completes terms of her sentence.

Amanda Brennan faces a judge Tuesday in state court in Las Vegas after pleading guilty in October to a felony luring a child charge.

Police say the former Foothill High School teacher told investigators she knew it was wrong to date the boy who was under 16 years old, but she did it anyway.

Brennan's sentencing comes a week after a 22-year-old former substitute teacher was arrested in Las Vegas and accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student.

Tanikka Queen remains jailed pending a March 31 preliminary hearing on kidnapping, child sexual assault and lewdness charges.
