SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Federal authorities have shut down a Northern California-based adult website, and two people face charges including facilitating prostitution and money laundering.
Agents seized Myredbook.com and raided a house in Mountain View on Wednesday that they say is connected to the site. Authorities say the website allowed sex performers and adult entertainers to solicit their services.
U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag says site operator Eric "Red" Omuro and his assistant, Annmarie Lanoce, were arrested after a federal grand jury indicted them Tuesday.
Omuro and Lanoce have been released on $500,000 bond and $250,000 bond, respectively. Omuro is due in court Friday. A U.S. attorney's spokeswoman didn't know if they had attorneys.
The federal raid stems from a national crackdown on child sex trafficking this month. Authorities say 168 children have been rescued and 281 alleged pimps arrested.
