HIGHLAND, Calif. (AP) — Multiple agencies are responding to five small fires in a rural area in the San Bernardino National Forest.
Forest spokesman John Miller says Thursday's fires are close together and are being treated as possible arson because a suspicious person was seen in the area.
Miller does not know the size of the fires yet, but says crews are en route.
The area is on Old Waterman Canyon Road north of State Route 18.
It's near where the 2003 Old Fire began and burned 91,000 acres and 1,000 buildings over nine days.
Winds are light and the temperature is mild in the area.
