LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a body was found in a burned apartment north of downtown Las Vegas.
Firefighters say they responded to reports of a fire near East Bonanza Road and North Maryland Parkway about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
They say flames were coming from a second-story apartment, and they evacuated three houses nearby because of the intensity.
After crews put out the blaze, they say they found a body on the floor of the bedroom.
Officials say the damage was confined to the bedroom and kitchen of the apartment and is estimated at about $75,000.
No other injuries have been reported, although four people have been displaced.
Authorities haven't yet released the identity of the person who died.
