RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno police are warning southwest side residents that a burglar may be breaking into homes at night while people are sleeping.
Officers responded to a pair of the so-called "hot prowl" burglaries early Thursday about two hours apart and about 2 miles from each other.
One attempted burglary happened on Wendy Way south of Moana Lane and the other on Maplewood Drive just north of the Washoe County Golf Course.
Police say in both cases, the suspect used a window or door to enter the homes and was confronted by residents. The suspect fled and a vehicle was heard speeding from the area.
The suspect is described between 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, with a medium build, short hair and dark, hooded sweatshirt.
