LOS ANGELES (AP) — The California Highway Patrol has shut down Interstate 5 over the Tejon Pass due to snow and ice.

Officer Jennifer Cassidy said Saturday that the stretch of freeway is shut down in both directions between Parker Avenue and Grapevine Road until further notice.

Officials hope to reopen the area by 2 p.m. but that will depend on the weather.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department reports that rain has contributed to several wrecks on Southern California roads as a storm front moves in.
