BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — The suspect in the slaying of an Idaho man has reached a plea deal with Nevada prosecutors on separate kidnapping and robbery charges.

That means James Duane Ambrose is expected to be returned to Idaho in April to face charges of murder and grand theft in the May 2012 death of Russ Taft at a Burley motel.

The Times-News reports Ambrose pleaded guilty Wednesday in Las Vegas to kidnapping, robbery and battery charges stemming from a home invasion of an elderly couple there. He is set to be sentenced on April 18.

Deputy district attorney Parker Brooks of Clark County, Nev., says once Ambrose is sentenced for those charges, Idaho will be able to extradite him.

Taft's body was found in a crawl space at the Alpine Garden Inn.
