LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles International Airport's Terminal 6 is operating without drinkable water available.
An airport statement says a contractor working on a pump room notified airport operations that sometime between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday there was cross-contamination between a potable water line and a non-potable water line for recycled air-conditioning water.
The airport says all airlines and concessionaires were immediately notified, staff members were dispatched, water fountains were covered and the public was notified to not drink the water.
All food concessions were closed and passengers are being directed to concessions in adjacent Terminals 5 and 7, which are connected by corridors.
Bottled water is being distributed to passengers and employees.
Restrooms remain available.
The water system is being flushed and will be tested before it returns to service.
