LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles-area man and woman were charged in federal court Monday with hiring a hit man to kill the boyfriend of the woman's daughter.
Authorities say 45-year-old Adelina Cristobal of Lawndale and 34-year-old Antonio Quevedo of Hawthorne in the South Bay area were charged in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles on Monday.
An ATF task force officer posing as a hit man met with the pair and was offered $6,500 by Cristobal to kill her daughter's boyfriend, according to an affidavit. They were arrested Thursday.
Cristobal and Quevedo were charged with using interstate commerce facilities for murder-for-hire.
If convicted the defendants face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
