LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The mother of two toddlers who were found wandering alone in soiled diapers through the streets of South Los Angeles last week was under the supervision of county child protective services.
The Los Angeles Times reports 32-year-old Sidnicka Wilson, who has pleaded not guilty to child abuse and other charges, was enrolled in a program designed to help parents like her keep their children while learning to care for them better.
Philip Browning, director of child welfare, said "something didn't work" in Wilson's case, and referred it to internal affairs investigators. He says their early findings have raised concerns about safety for kids in the program.
Wilson was arrested after her 2- and 3-year-old sons were seen crossing a busy street and entering a liquor store.
