LOS ANGELES (AP) — A University of Southern California official says Los Angeles police are investigating the death of a graduate student in an off-campus apartment.
Provost Elizabeth Garrett says in a letter to students, faculty and staff that the engineering student died of a head injury in his apartment north of the campus, apparently sometime Thursday morning.
The letter says the cause of the injury has not been determined and the university will await information from police before drawing any conclusions.
The student's name has been withheld pending notification of his family.
Garrett's letter adds that early indications suggest it is an isolated incident and there is no apparent threat to the campus community.
