LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada lieutenant governor hopefuls Lucy Flores and Mark Hutchison are set to square off in a debate in Las Vegas.
The Hispanics in Politics organization is hosting the forum Wednesday morning at Dona Maria Tamales restaurant.
The Democratic Flores has garnered national press coverage after leaving behind life in a gang, earning a law degree and winning a state assembly seat. The Republican Hutchison is a lawyer and state senator who enjoys the support of popular Gov. Brian Sandoval.
Lieutenant governor is a largely ceremonial, part-time job, but has been one of the most-watched of the election cycle.
That's because the winner would take the governor's seat if it's vacant in two years. Many speculate that Sandoval will win re-election and then challenge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2016.
