RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Riverside County prosecutors say they've agreed to reduce the conviction and sentence of a woman who killed her former pimp when she was 16.
Spokesman John Hall says Sara Jessimy Kruzan, now 35, has served 19 years in prison and is now eligible for parole under an agreement announced on Friday.
Under the agreement, Kruzan's 1995 conviction is reduced from first-degree murder to second-degree with the use of a gun.
Kruzan killed George Gilbert Howard in a motel room in 1994, years after he began wooing her at age 11 with ice cream, roller skating outings and rides in his Cadillac. By age 13, she was prostituting.
Her original sentence was life in prison without parole, but was commuted to 25 years to life by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2011.
