LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas team was honored with a parade down the Strip after its return from the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Mayor Carolyn Goodman and former UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian were among those who recognized the Mountain Ridge team during a ceremony Saturday at city hall.

Goodman passed out medals and keys to the city, while Tarkanian presented an autographed basketball.

The team then boarded an open-air, double-decker bus for the parade down the Strip under a police escort. Hundreds of people gave members a hero's welcome.

The team was the first ever from Nevada to qualify for the tournament. The team breezed through the competition until the national championship game when it lost to a Chicago team, which lost to South Korea in the final game.
