LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A domestic violence suspect is in stable condition after he was shot by a Long Beach police officer during a chase.

Police said that 25-year-old Rasad Minor of Long Beach was shot around 1 a.m. Sunday as he was being chased on foot by a police officer.

Minor was being sought in connection with a domestic violence incident. He had fled the scene by the time police arrived, but officers later located him in his vehicle.

Minor attempted to run away on foot and officers gave chase. Police say he pulled out a handgun during the pursuit and was shot by an officer.

Minor was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer.
