MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — Douglas County authorities have arrested a Reno man on charges of stealing solar panels and solar energy components.

Forty-year-old Geoffrey Earl Meudt was arrested Tuesday following a months-long investigation into five incidents of stolen solar energy equipment. Meudt is formerly of Gardnerville.

The sheriff's office tracked down people who purchased solar equipment from Meudt. All said they were led to believe he legally acquired the equipment from a solar energy upgrade project in Reno.

But investigators say an inspection of the equipment revealed it was stolen. About $25,000 worth of solar panels has been recovered.

Meudt was arrested for possession of stolen property. Bail was set at $20,000.
