WELLS, Nev. (AP) — A truck driver faces trial on three involuntary manslaughter charges after a crash that killed a tow truck driver and a Washington couple in northeastern Nevada.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports 53-year-old Samuel Wayne Rosenbaum of Abingdon, Va., was bound over for trial last week in the October 2011 crash outside of Wells.
Troopers say 20-year-old Jesse John Pengelly had hooked up a car for a tow on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 93 when a semitrailer plowed into them.
The truck first hit a Buick, killing the Spokane residents inside — 64-year-old Michael Bogue and 54-year-old Marilyn Bogue. Then it hit Pengelly, who later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities say Rosenbaum was driving 82 mph before the crash, while the posted speed limit was 70 mph.
