NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Federal officials from New Jersey and Delaware plan to announce legal action against two international shipping companies for environmental violations.

New Jersey's U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman will be joined Monday by Delaware's U.S. attorney and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Fishman alleges two shipping firms based in Germany and Cyprus have violated the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships. Fishman says the charges are related to the deliberate concealment of vessel pollution from four ships that visited U.S. ports in New Jersey, Delaware and Northern California.

More details will be made available at a 1:30 p.m. news conference in Newark.
