CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — State officials say Nevada's unemployment rate ticked down to 8.7 percent in January.
The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Monday that the January jobless rate was down a tenth of a percentage point from the 8.8 percent it was in December.
The department says Nevada saw its 37th month of year-over-year job growth, and has added nearly 61,000 new private sector jobs in the past three years.
State economist Bill Anderson says job losses from business closures are at historic lows, and job gains from business openings are rebounding.
