RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County sheriff's deputies are continuing to investigate a double-homicide at a Washoe Valley home where a suspected gunman led officers on a high-speed chase before they fatally shot him nearly 100 miles away.
Authorities responded to the home south of Reno Friday about 7:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call that a man had shot his wife and fled.
Deputies say the male caller also suffered gunshot wounds but his life was not in danger. One female victim was shot and the other suffered blunt force trauma.
Officers spotted the suspect and gave chase on U.S. Highway 50 at speeds up to 100 mph before they killed him in a shootout at Sand Mountain Recreation Area about 25 miles east of Fallon.
Washoe Sheriff's spokesman Bob Harmon said Monday no additional information will be released until the autopsies are completed.
