RENO, Nev. (AP) — Leaders of a national sorority have extended the suspension of their chapter at the University of Nevada amid allegations of hazing on the Reno campus.
Emily Cummings, a spokeswoman for the Pi Beta Phi Grand Council, told the Reno Gazette-Journal on Wednesday the suspension will continue until at least the fall of 2015.
UNR spokeswoman Natalie Savidge confirmed the suspension but provided no details. The initial report in November indicated a hazing hotline had received two calls about the Pi Beta Phi chapter in Reno.
The national group since has removed the local chapter from its web site
Savidge says it has 85 to 100 members on campus.
