OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — New details have emerged in the alleged murder of a federal investigator by her ex-boyfriend, including that they had a teenage daughter together.
During a preliminary hearing Monday in Oakland, a police officer and two nephews of suspect Randy Alana testified that Alana is the father of victim Sandra Coke's 15-year-old daughter who reported her mother was missing in August.
Alameda County prosecutors have charged the 56-year-old Alana with strangling to death the 50-year-old Coke.
Monday's testimony also revealed that Coke and Alana dated 20 years ago. That was rekindled by Coke when Alana was released from prison last year. Coke had accused Alana of stealing her missing dog.
Coke was an investigator with the Sacramento branch of the Federal Public Defender's Office.
Her body was found in a Vacaville creek five days after she was reported missing on Aug. 4.
