LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles man who had two of his murder convictions overturned by federal appellate courts has been indicted on three other "Skid Row Stabber" murders.

Los Angeles County grand jury court records released Tuesday showed that Bobby Joe Maxwell was charged anew with three murders on which his original jury deadlocked in 1984. He had been awaiting trial on two other murders which were the subject of reversal by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Those charges were reinstated by prosecutors.

The 63-year-old Maxwell has been in prison for more than 30 years. The appeals court found he was the victim of a notorious jailhouse snitch who committed perjury in the two murder charges that were overturned. His new trial on those charges must proceed on other evidence.
