SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) — An Oakland man is facing eight felony counts in connection with a Northern California jewelry store robbery that turned into a shootout with the store's owner.
The Press Democrat of Santa Rosa reports that 43-year-old Jimmy Lee Terry pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to robbery, kidnapping, attempted murder and other charges.
Police say Terry put a gun to a store clerk's head and used her as a human shield during the July 10 robbery at Bennett Valley Jewelers in Santa Rosa. Terry was wounded in an exchange of gunfire with the store's owner.
An employee was also wounded.
A second suspect escaped and remains at large.
