LAS VEGAS (AP) — Overton farmer Laura Bledsoe is announcing her candidacy for the Nevada Assembly.

She plans to seek the District 19 seat currently held by fellow Republican Cresent Hardy, who launching a bid for Nevada's 4th Congressional District seat.

Bledsoe and her husband own and operate Quail Hollow Farm, a community supported agriculture operation in Moapa Valley.

Support comes from shares purchased by members, who then receive a weekly basket of organic produce in return.

Hardy was first elected in 2010 and was assistant minority floor leader during the 2013 session. He hopes to win the GOP nomination to challenge Democratic U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford in November.
