Pair of 16-year-old boys killed in Lancaster crash

LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) — The California Highway Patrol says two 16-year-old boys were killed when their car was struck by a big rig in Lancaster.

City News Service reports the crash happened Monday evening at an intersection near Edwards Air Force Base.

The teen driver of the car, a 2002 Prius, was identified by the CHP as being from Palmdale. He died at the scene.

The passenger, who was from Oklahoma, died at a hospital.

The driver of the big rig was not injured.

How the crash occurred was not immediately clear.
