RENO, Nev. (KRNV, MyNews4.com & AP) — The parents of a Nevada boy who killed a teacher and wounded two classmates at his middle school say Jose Reyes had been teased about a speech problem but never showed signs he harbored any anger that would fuel the shooting that ended with his suicide.
Jose Reyes, the father, said in a statement he and his wife, Liliana, "had no idea" their son was so upset or troubled. They said they don't understand why he opened fire at Sparks Middle School Oct. 21.
Jose Reyes says his son was working through "a speech problem" that prompted teasing. But he never complained about specific students or teachers.
