OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a small plane has crashed near a San Diego County airport but the pilot and passenger walked away with only a few scrapes.

Oceanside police say the plane went down around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday near Oceanside Municipal Airport.

Police say the pilot, Lance Murray, told officers that he was heading to the airport to land when the plane lost power.

It crashed in a field but didn't catch fire and nobody on the ground was hurt.
