SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say an airplane in Northern California has made an emergency landing after striking a bird shortly after takeoff.

Southwest Airlines Flight 454 heading for Ontario hit a bird Thursday morning after taking off from the Sacramento International Airport, forcing pilots to turn the aircraft around.

The plane landed on the airport's west runway.

Emergency crews then escorted the plane to a terminal where all the passengers were evacuated.

No injuries were reported as passengers are in the process of being re-booked on other flights.
