LAS VEGAS (AP) — Arraignment was postponed one week for a Saudi Arabia air force sergeant accused of abducting and raping a 13-year-old boy at a Las Vegas Strip hotel on New Year's Eve.
The plea date for Mazen Alotaibi was reset Wednesday after defense attorney Don Chairez (shar-EHZ'), mixed up the scheduled arraignment time.
Chairez says the 23-year-old aircraft mechanic still plans to plead not guilty when he appears in Nevada state court Feb. 13 on nine charges including kidnapping, sexual assault with a minor and lewdness with a child.
Alotaibi could face life in prison if he's convicted.
He's being held at the Clark County jail on $1.72 million bail.
Alotaibi is accused of forcing the boy into a room at the Circus-Circus hotel-casino and raping him early Dec. 31.
