NORTH LAS VEGAS (AP) — North Las Vegas police are investigating how a woman was living with more than 100 cats in "uninhabitable" conditions.
Officials say animal control personnel responded just before noon on Thursday to a complaint that a woman was keeping several feral cats in her home.
Officers say they found the 47-year-old woman living in "horrible conditions" with no air conditioning, among other safety concerns.
Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon says officers were on scene for about eight hours trying to remove 112 cats and one dog for safety reasons. Coon says three animal control officers were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion after the operation, and were released Thursday night.
Coon says the animals are being evaluated in a shelter and it's unclear what will happen to them.
