MONTEREY, Calif. (AP) — Police say they used a Taser on a 14-year-old girl after she attacked an officer at the Monterey County Fair.

Lt. Leslie Sonne tells the Monterey Herald that officers were questioning two teenage girls Saturday night after receiving reports that they had been involved in a fight.

Sonne says the 16-year-old became combative and an officer tackled her, then the 14-year-old jumped on the officer's back and another officer shot her with his stun gun.

Both girls were taken to juvenile detention on allegations of battery on a police officer and resisting arrest before they were released to their families.

Sonne says there will be an investigation into the use of force.
