BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — The principal of a Bakersfield elementary school has been released from jail days after her arrest on suspicion of killing her husband.
The Bakersfield Californian (http://bit.ly/14Wolue ) says 46-year-old Jenea Chance was released from custody on Tuesday. Prosecutors sent the case back to the Kern County Sheriff's Office for more investigation.
Chance is principal of Fairview Elementary School. Farmworkers found her husband, 45-year-old Todd Chance, shot to death in a field 16 miles from his home on Aug. 25.
Chance was arrested last Friday. Sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt says she's the sole suspect.
Her lawyer, Kyle Humphrey, says Chance maintains she is innocent.
