RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) — Coroner's officials in Southern California say prominent Chicago businessman Barry Lind has died after being hit by a car.
The 74-year-old was in Rancho Mirage when he was struck Wednesday evening. The Riverside County sheriff-coroner's office says he died of his injuries early Thursday.
Lind was a leading voice in the futures industry for many years, and was a fixture at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where he served five terms on its board of directors.
Lind played a key role in creating the International Monetary Market and was a director of the National Futures Association for 12 years.
