REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) — A six-alarm blaze at a San Francisco Bay Area machine shop forced nearby residents to flee and prompted a health advisory.

Fire officials say the blaze in Redwood City was reported around 5:50 a.m. Friday. It quickly grew to six alarms and damaged nearby residential and commercial buildings before it was brought under control about five hours later.

More than a dozen residents were displaced, though there were no reports of injuries.

San Mateo County health officials advised residents near the fire to stay indoors and limit outdoor activities.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
