RENO, Nev. (AP) — A man killed in a Reno garage fire has been identified as the son of a NAACP official and brother of the local organization's former president.
Fifty-eight-year-old Ronald Feemster died Friday of severe burns, a day after he and two others were injured in the fire at a home in northwest Reno.
His brother, Lonnie Feemster, tells the Reno Gazette-Journal the family traveled to the University of California, Davis burn unit to see him before he was taken off life support.
Lonnie Feemster was president of the Reno-Sparks chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People from 1999-2002 and 2009-2012.
Their mother, Dolores Feemster, is assistant secretary and described as a local matriarch on the organization's website.
