LOVELOCK, Nev. (AP) — The Pershing County coroner continues to investigate the official cause of death for a 52-year-old Reno man who died over the weekend in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 about seven miles east of Lovelock.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says a preliminary investigation suggests Jeffrey Loy was traveling westbound in his 2001 Chevrolet pickup on Saturday when he drifted into the dirt median.
The patrol says he traveled through the median and then vaulted over an uphill embankment that is used by emergency vehicles use to cross to the eastbound lanes.
When paramedics arrived, they found Loy dead inside the pickup wearing his seatbelt.
NHP says alcohol may have contributed to the accident. No other details have been released.
