RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno man who pleaded guilty to robbing two brothers at gunpoint and forcing them to drive to a remote location before stealing their car has been sentenced to a minimum 25 years in federal prison.
Thirty-two year old John Louis Devencenzi was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks.
Prosecutors say he had multiple felony convictions when he robbed two brothers in their Reno home in May 2011.
Authorities say Devencenzi ordered the men to open a safe and retrieve guns and jewelry. He then forced them to drive to a remote location in the desert, where he made them lie face down on the ground as he drove away.
The brothers were found by Washoe County deputies near Pyramid Highway. Devencenzi was arrested later on unrelated warrants.
