LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has found 15 incidents where employees who had problems before being hired went on to be disciplined for violating department policies.

The Los Angeles Times reports Thursday the new information comes after it was revealed the department hired dozens of officers despite background investigations that showed prior problems. The findings resulted in suspensions and reprimands.

A report outlining the misconduct has been submitted to the county Board of Supervisors, which has demanded a response from Sheriff Lee Baca. The study marks the first time Baca has acknowledged that some of the new hires committed wrongdoing in his department.

Nearly a dozen additional misconduct investigations involving employees hired in 2010 from a small county police force are pending.
