BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) — Police detectives in Beaverton, Oregon, found a 17-year-old runaway from California while investigating a sex-trafficking operation.

Detective Sgt. Jim Shumway said Monday that detectives found the girl at a hotel with two women and a man who were involved in sex trafficking along the West Coast. The four are all from Stockton, California.

Police arrested 19-year-old Tyrell Armstrong Jr. on charges of compelling prostitution, promoting prostitution and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Washington County Jail. An 18-year-old woman was cited for promoting prostitution and released.

Shumway says the runaway will be reunited with her family in Stockton.
