SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Authorities in San Francisco have identified a 21-year-old man who was fatally stabbed inside an apartment building.

The city medical examiner tells the Chronicle newspaper that Jose Manuel Puc-Muy died in the early morning stabbing Monday in the Hayes Valley neighborhood. It was unclear whether he lived at the building, and efforts to reach his family were unsuccessful.

Lt. Tim Plyer said officers responding to a 911 call found the man suffering from stab wounds inside the building's lobby.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Plyer said investigators are interviewing witnesses and they are questioning at least three suspects in the case as the building had been under a lockdown.
