SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Plastic foam food containers may soon be a thing of the past in San Jose.
The City Council voted 9-2 on Tuesday to ban them. The ban would go into effect for large, multistate chain restaurants in January and other restaurants and businesses a year later.
Other cities have banned foam containers, but the San Jose Mercury News reports (http://bit.ly/16MMbEO) that San Jose is among the largest of those.
Critics say the material can be recycled, and such bans unnecessarily burden businesses.
