SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Crews are still searching for a missing 14-year-old boy who disappeared while swimming with two family members at San Francisco's Ocean Beach.

San Francisco Fire Department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said Thursday that four ladder trucks had joined the U.S. Coast Guard in the search for the missing boy.

Authorities on Wednesday responded to reports of three swimmers in distress.

Two of the swimmers, a man and a teenage boy, were pulled from the water by a 17-year-old surfer, Tony Barbero, who told KPIX-TV that he used his board to help the boy get to shore.

Barbero then helped the man, whose pulse had stopped. Once on shore, crews revived the man with CPR.

Authorities say the boy who remains missing is the man's son.
