SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — People who use San Francisco Municipal Transportation subway trains to get home are facing delays because of a problem with the system's signals.
Muni spokesman Paul Rose says all of the system's underground trains are stopped because of electrical problems caused by a transformer that blew around 5:45 p.m. Monday.
Stranded passengers are being taken by bus shuttles between the Embarcadero and West Portal stations.
Rose could not say when the subway trains would be running again.
In a separate incident, San Francisco police say a woman in a wheelchair is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a Muni train around 5:30 p.m.
Police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi says after getting hit the woman was trapped underneath the train, and that special equipment had to be called in to lift the train off the injured woman.
Rose says the two incidents are unrelated.
