ATLANTA (AP) — The president of Southern Polytechnic State University will step down this summer and take a new job with a California university.

The University System of Georgia announced the change on Wednesday. Lisa A. Rossbacher will become the president of Humbodlt State University in July.

University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby says Rossbacher established strong business connections and helped develop a diverse student body. He says Rossbacher also remains a vocal supporter of women pursuing careers in science, technological, engineering and mathematics.

SPSU is located in Marietta, Ga. and focuses on science and technology education.

According to the California State University Board of Trustees, Rossbacher is the first female president in Humboldt State University's 100-year history.
